QDP Corporate Background

QDP Beginnings  

• QDP was founded in 1995 to serve as a dedicated subcontractor to 3M Corporation making SST vibration control dampers and related products for the hard disk drive (HDD) industry
• 3M provided all machinery and tooling for startup operation. QDP began manufacturing operations in October 1995
• QDP designed and built tools, manufactured and shipped SST dampers and laminated SST roll good for HDD suspension arms, plus other non-related 3M laminated products, from 1995 though 1998
• QDP drop shipped all product direct to 3M customers

QDP goes on its own

• In 1998 QDP purchased the HDD damper business including all equipment, tooling, existing production contracts and inventory from 3M
• In 1999, with 3M assistance, QDP began selling direct to HDD customers
• In 2000, QDP expanded operations by leasing an additional 3,700 sq. ft. at our Plymouth Meeting, PA facility, increasing total space to 8,700 sq. ft.

QDP development of E-Block Dampers for the HDD industry

• In 2002, QDP management working closely with major HDD manufacturers to develop one piece SST dampers for E-Block arms
• In 2003, QDP made it's first shipments of E-Block dampers to major HDD manufacturers and subcontractors
• QDP quickly expanded the manufacturing area to meet the production requirements of 6 different E-Block damper programs, including the addition of two complete automated press lines

QDP recognized as a leader in E-Block Dampers

• In 2004, QDP begins work with 2nd major HDD manufacturer in development and production
• In 2005, QDP develops E-Block dampers with 3rd major HDD manufacturer and quickly begin production
• Multiple programs are now in place for many of the HDD industry leaders

QDP development of Improved Mylar Film Dampers for Suspension Arms

• In 2004, working closely with a major HDD subcontractor, Magnecomp Precision Technology (MPT), QDP developed an improved Mylar Film Damper for suspension arms
• In 2005, QDP qualifies on an existing MPT program for a major HDD manufacturer, begins production and shipment of Mylar Film Dampers
• In 2006, QDP qualifies on another Mylar Film Damper program with 2nd major HDD manufacturer subcontract supplier, NHK Spring
• QDP begins production and shipments to NHK spring in 2006
• As of July 2008 QDP has shipped over one billion Mylar suspension dampers
